Welcome to Retro Designs.
I like to work on my own cars as much as possible, but lately I simply haven't had the time. I'm very picky about having other people work on my cars and finding someone in the hot rod business that is trustworthy is hard to do. I've enjoyed working with Daniel and the team at Retro Designs Speed and Custom on some of my projects. I started off as one of his customers, but we ended up being great friends. He's extremely talented and has a very bright future in the hot rod business. I look forward to working with him on many cool projects in the future.

I met Daniel & Jack at the “Shades of the Past” in Pigeon Forge,Tennessee, in 2013 while admiring a 1932 Plymouth sedan they had built. I was looking for a shop to build my all steel, mostly original 1934 Ford roadster. Daniel picked up my car in November, 2013, with a target date for completion of June, 2014. My car was all apart when he picked it up. Other than the doors & rumble seat lid, no other two pieces were attached. Within 3 weeks I recieved an invoice of work done & a picture of the assembled rolling frame. Work continued at a steady pace with invoices and pictures on a regular schedule. I visited the shop several times and was always impressed by the cleanliness and organization of the shop. The work on my car (and others) was 1st class. I wanted the car to look “original” with minimum changes. Everything on the car, from fit & finish, to paint, to a minimum of fabrication, was done perfectly. There is not a thing out of place. The creature comforts I wanted were hidden so only the most knowledge person could see. The car was finished in time for the Goodguys Nationals in Columbus the following July. There was always a crowd around the car - people loved it, especially the “gray beards”. No matter where I show it, it immediately draws a crowd. At two different Goodguys events, it received awards the first day. I could not be happier with my finished car - it has exceeded all of my expectations. Retro Designs delivered 100% plus.

Retro Designs is a first class operation led by Daniel Valjevac. We have worked on a few project cars with them now, one most notably being the 1956 Chevrolet Bel Air Hardtop known as #BoostedBela that was built for the Chevrolet Performance website, www.TheBLOCK.com and debuted in the Mobil 1 booth at SEMA 2015. This was a full frame-off, nut-and-bolt project that was built with meticulous detail. The car has received all kinds of honors since revealed at SEMA. What people don’t know is that this car was fully built in under seven weeks. When pressure like that is on, it’s often hard to keep composure. I was blown away by the leadership, vision and calm that came from Daniel and his team at Retro Designs. It was by far the best full project build experience that I have ever had and I would do it all again with Retro Designs.
